What is Telemedicine?

In this time of uncertainty, ProActive has been working hard to maintain a healthy and safe space for its employees and all of those who are still able to attend physical therapy. In addition, we have been actively pursuing alternative ways to stay in touch for those who are unable to come into the clinic for physical therapy during this time.

May we introduce you to telemedicine. A virtual online clinic!

I'm sure this brings about a lot of questions, so we have broken down exactly what this means for you below.

What? Telemedicine is a way for you to stay connected with your physical therapist through virtual video conferencing. It is a one-on-one 15-30 minute, virtual visit that gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have, address any concerns that may have come up, and possibly progress your healthcare plan so that you don't drift backwards.

Where? Telemedicine visits can take place right from the comfort of your own home. As long as there is an internet connection and you are physically within the state of Washington, these virtual visits can take place on your cell phone, iPad/tablet, computer, or any other device with video capabilities.

When? We will begin scheduling telemedicine appointments April 6th. If you would like to set up an appointment, please call our office to schedule. We will need to contact your insurance plan for your specific COVID-19 telehealth benefit, so please be ready with your insurance information for the receptionist.

How? Once you have called our office to set up your virtual visit with your physical therapist, be on the lookout for two emails. The first email will be your COVID-19 insurance benefit verification form. Please print this form off, sign it and scan or take a picture and email it back to the clinic. The second email will be sent just prior to the time of your appointment and will include a link to a virtual conference room. At the time of your appointment, click on the link in the email and follow the prompts to "check in." Once you have checked in to your appointment, you will be placed in a "waiting room" and your PT will be notified that you are ready for your appointment.

We are hopeful that this will give us alternative options to continue to support you through your rehabilitation progress. As always, if you have any questions or concerns please give us a call.

Stay safe and stay healthy!

Sincerely,

The ProActive Family
