Mariah Mao, PTA

Mariah has been with ProActive since 2013, starting off as an aide and returning as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA). Mariah earned her Bachelor's in Family Studies and Human Development from the University of Arizona in 2013. Though she never had physical therapy herself, Mariah gained interest in the field after working in the athletic training room and on campus clinic at University of Arizona. She graduated from the Physical Therapist Assistant program through Green River College in 2018. Mariah is continuing her education to become a Physical Therapist and is currently attending Concordia University - Wisconsin PTA to DPT Bridge program.
When Mariah is not working, you can find her teaching dance at a local studio, running the Oly Parks & Rec Youth Dance Team and working with her alma mater the Olympia "Pepperettes" H.S. Dance Team as the Booster Club President. Mariah has been teaching dance for 19 years and is entering her 13th year coaching dance teams. Mariah was named the 2023 4A Washington State Dance/Drill Coaches Association Coach of the Year for her exceptional work and service in the dance community. Recently, Mariah has stepped away from coaching at OHS and became a judge through the Washington State Dance/Drill Judges Association. She is the current intern director and mentors new judges from across the state of Washington.
During her free time you can find Mariah judging local dance competitions, spending time with her husband Adam, playing with her two German Shepherds (Brutus and Lena) and her cat (Luci), watching all UofA sports (BEAR DOWN!), going line dancing, trying new restaurants, spending time with family and friends and travels as much as possible.
